Ballia Superintendent of Police Dev Ranjan Verma said on Sunday that the police has busted three gangs by arresting 14 people . He told that the arrested Abhay Kumar Srivastava is a 'lab technician' in the health department in Sultanpur district, while Fatehbahadur Rajbhar is a constable in the forest department in Katni district of Madhya Pradesh. According to him, the police have also arrested three other people, who were taking the exam in place of other candidates.

In Gonda district, police have arrested three people including a person from Nalanda district of Bihar. Gonda Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said that Kundan Kumar Chaudhary of Nalanda district of Bihar was arrested from an examination center in Nawabganj town of the district with the help of local police on Saturday evening. According to him, he was appearing for constable recruitment in place of Tanmay Singh of Mankapur police station area.

He said that the police on Sunday also arrested Tanmay and his associate Harendra Kumar, resident of Dhanepur police station area of Gonda district. Harendra is also a candidate for constable recruitment. According to Jaiswal, a deal has been finalized between these two candidates for six lakh rupees with Kundan, a resident of Nalanda district. He was appearing in place of Tanmay at an examination center in Nawabganj in the second shift on Saturday and was to appear in place of Harendra at another center in Gonda city on Sunday. However, even before that both the candidates were arrested.

Case registered in Nawabganj police station

Jaiswal said that a case has been registered against all three in Nawabganj police station. More than 120 people have been arrested across Uttar Pradesh in the last two days on charges of cheating and appearing in place of candidates in the police constable recruitment exam, officials said on Saturday.

Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar had said on Saturday that out of the total 122 people arrested, 15 were in Etah, nine each in Mau, Prayagraj and Siddharthnagar, eight in Ghazipur, seven in Azamgarh, six in Gorakhpur, five in Jaunpur. , four in Firozabad, three each in Kaushambi and Hathras, two each in Jhansi, Varanasi, Agra and Kanpur, and one each in Ballia, Deoria and Bijnor.

Kumar had also conducted a surprise inspection of two examination centers in Gomtinagar area of Lucknow. He told that more than 48 lakh candidates had appeared in the examination being held in two shifts on 17th and 18th February. (with agency input)
